Dr. Michael Handke was born in Pittsburgh, and grew up in Monroeville, Pa. After graduating from Gateway Senior High School, Dr. Handke attended Carnegie Mellon University where he studied Cognitive Science, Statistics, and Russian Studies before going on to graduate school for Neurobiology. After a few years in grad school, Dr. Handke left to attend veterinary school at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (VMRCVM) and graduated in 2012.
Dr. Handke returned to Pittsburgh, and has worked as a small animal veterinarian for more than 10 years. Dr. Handke’s main interest is internal medicine, but he is looking to expand his knowledge in exotic animal medicine.
Dr. Handke is married with 3 sons, and has a pit bull named Jedi and a corn snake, Rocko. His personal interests include science fiction and fantasy, language learning (working on Spanish and German at the moment), learning guitar, hiking, Pittsburgh Penguins hockey, and beer brewing.
